NNPP Fires Back: Ganduje Lied About Kwankwaso Joining APC

The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dungurawa, has strongly refuted recent claims suggesting that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The speculation intensified on Wednesday following a statement by APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who declared that Kwankwaso would soon return to the ruling party, asserting that the NNPP no longer posed a political threat. Ganduje also noted that the APC would gladly welcome Kwankwaso back.

However, addressing the media in Kano on Friday, Dungurawa categorically dismissed Ganduje’s assertion, affirming that Kwankwaso has no intention of abandoning the NNPP.

Dungurawa emphasized that Kwankwaso is fully capable of charting his own political course without seeking approval or validation from anyone. He described the defection rumors as unfounded and a reflection of political desperation.

“There is no truth whatsoever to these claims. We are not in talks with the APC, and there is no plan to defect,” Dungurawa declared.

He further stressed that the NNPP remains solid in Kano, with the state government actively working to uphold law and order.

Dungurawa’s remarks come amid mounting speculation over Kwankwaso’s political trajectory, though the NNPP leader maintains that the party is poised for major progress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
