According to Ireporter Online, the governor said the victims would receive the necessary support needed to recover from the physical and emotional challenges caused by their prolonged ordeal before fully reintegrating with their families and communities.

Makinde disclosed this in a statement shared on his official account on Friday, following the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers who were abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The governor expressed relief over their safe return after nearly two months in captivity, describing the development as a significant moment for the state.

He explained that the government’s immediate focus would be on ensuring the victims are reunited with their loved ones while providing adequate care to support their recovery from the trauma associated with the experience.

“Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience,” Makinde stated.

Although he did not disclose specific details of the rehabilitation plan, the governor assured that the rescued victims would receive the required assistance to help them regain stability and move forward.

Makinde also commended the security agencies and other personnel involved in the rescue operation, praising their bravery, professionalism and commitment throughout the mission.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by security operatives who contributed to the success of the operation, while also honouring those who lost their lives during the effort.

The governor extended his condolences to the families of the fallen personnel, praying for comfort and strength for them during the difficult period.

“May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace, and may God comfort their families,” Makinde added.
