Osaanya alleged that these individuals, displeased with the government’s progress in combating terrorism, have resorted to blackmail and propaganda against Ribadu.
In a statement on Saturday, he claimed that recent successes against bandits, kidnappers, and insurgents have unsettled some political figures.
Expressing disappointment, the ex-warlord lamented that despite Ribadu’s dedication, he continues to face unjust criticism.
He highlighted that Nigeria’s Global Terror Index score improved from 8.065 in 2023 to 7.575—its best rating in over eight years—under Ribadu’s leadership.
‘Linking Ribadu to 2031 Politics Is a Mere Distraction’
Osaanya dismissed speculations that Ribadu was strategizing for 2031 political ambitions, describing it as a deliberate ploy to create division and divert his attention from national security.
He cautioned those orchestrating media attacks to desist, emphasizing that Nigerians, particularly those in the Niger Delta, stand firmly behind Ribadu’s leadership.
While acknowledging that more work lies ahead, Osaanya urged continuous support for Ribadu and President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enhance Nigeria’s security.
He also commended Ribadu’s emphasis on food security and other critical national concerns, describing his strategy as a smart and result-oriented approach to governance.
“His efforts are yielding tangible results. Our National Security Adviser, one of the most competent and intelligent security experts this country has ever produced, is effectively managing the nation’s security with unwavering dedication,” Osaanya stated.
