Guy Mukendi, 39, was found guilty of rape under English law, which includes non-consensual condom removal, known as ‘stealthing’. The victim had explicitly consented to sex on the condition that Mukendi used protection. She reported the sexual assault to the Metropolitan Police on May 9, 2023.
Text messages retrieved by officers revealed Mukendi apologizing for removing the condom, explaining it was because he had not been sexually active for a long time. Screenshots of these messages were taken by the woman before Mukendi deleted them.
Despite denying rape, Mukendi was convicted and sentenced to four years and three months in prison at Inner London Crown Court.
Detective Constable Jack Earl, who led the investigation, emphasized the team’s dedication to securing justice for the victim and raising awareness that such actions constitute rape.
“The victim demonstrated courage in reporting this immediately to the police,” Earl stated. “If you have been a victim of sexual violence, please reach out to your local police service for support.”
Kate Holmes, Head of Sexual Violence Helplines at Survivors Gateway, encouraged survivors in London to contact the Survivor’s Gateway on 0808 801 0860 for confidential support and referrals to counseling and advocacy services.
