Man Stunned After Discovering Masked Passenger He Spoke With Was Peter Obi

A Nigerian man identified as @Zaddy-of-Lagos on X, formerly known as Twitter, has recounted an unexpected encounter with National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi during a flight.

According to the X user, he initially had no idea that the passenger he interacted with was Obi because the politician was wearing a COVID-19 face mask. He said they travelled in economy class and engaged in a conversation during the flight, including discussions about his work at a bank.

The man explained that he only realised the identity of the passenger after Obi removed his mask briefly while drinking water. The discovery reportedly left him surprised that he had been speaking with the former Anambra State governor without recognising him.

After the aircraft landed in Owerri, the man said he noticed that he appeared to be the only passenger who had not recognised Obi earlier. He also suggested that he may have mistaken one of Obi’s associates for the politician because of his outfit.

He further recounted that Obi declined to allow him or anyone else to carry his hand luggage. According to the account, the politician personally carried his bag to his vehicle before entering a Prado and departing.

Reflecting on the encounter, the X user said Obi’s conduct surprised him and led him to pray for the politician’s safety. He described the interaction as an experience that left an impression on him, particularly because of what he perceived as Obi’s humility.
