Manhunt Launched By Lagos Government For Underbridge Landlords

The Lagos State Government has escalated its efforts to apprehend and prosecute the leaders behind the rental of accommodations to tenants beneath bridges in the Ikoyi area of the state. The state government recently uncovered several apartments beneath a bridge in the upscale Ikoyi neighborhood.

During a ministerial press briefing held at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, as part of the first-year commemoration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat’s second term in office, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that 165 miscreants and squatters were apprehended during a recent raid at the Ikoyi bridge.

Wahab stated, “In a renewed effort to safeguard the lives of residents, the Operatives of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) enforced the use of pedestrian bridges in accordance with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Management law. A total of 1,032 individuals were arrested for crossing highways and failing to use pedestrian.
