Omokri, in a post shared on his social media platform, pointed out the seeming paradox of those lamenting over the fee hike, while owning high-end phones worth more than the increased tuition fees.

He wrote, “How much is an iPhone 14? About ₦1.2 million. How much is a Samsung Galaxy? About ₦300,000. How can an iPhone and a Samsung cost more than your tuition, and you are complaining? Where will the money to pay lecturers come from?” CONTINUE READING

He further noted the anomaly of students in Unilag driving more luxurious cars and using better phones than their lecturers. He opined that Nigerians have grown too accustomed to receiving freebies and cheap things from the government, while still demanding quality services.

Omokri, citing the example of Nigerian doctors and nurses being in high demand globally, questioned the reluctance of students to invest in their education while they can splurge on non-essentials such as extravagant birthday celebrations and clubbing. CONTINUE READING

 

 

 

He concluded his post by challenging those complaining about university tuition in Nigeria to try studying in neighbouring countries like Benin Republic or Ghana, hinting they would quickly realize the value they were getting in Nigeria.
