As conveyed by the presidency’s spokesman in a statement on Friday, Umar marks the first woman to assume the role of Director-General in this crucial agency.
Highlighting President Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to gender representation, the statement emphasized the historical significance of Umar’s appointment.
With over two decades of professional experience spanning various sectors, including Human Resources, Finance, and Administration, Mrs. Umar brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. She is a certified member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Institute of Credit Administration, holding ACCA certifications in Public Financial Management and Digital & Sustainability Financing.

Previously serving as the Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services at the Federal Mortgage Bank, Mrs. Umar played a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives and modernizing the institution into a digitally-driven mortgage and financial service provider.

President Tinubu anticipates that Mrs. Umar’s leadership will instill much-needed financial acumen and operational efficacy within NEMA.
