In an interview, MI Abaga expressed his concerns about the susceptibility of individuals in the creative field to such problems.
According to him, creatives, including artists, are particularly vulnerable to mental health issues due to constant exposure to rejection, despair, and negativity.
MI Abaga emphasized that for successful artists, the situation exacerbates, leading many to seek solace in drug abuse.
“The creative community is inherently more susceptible to mental health challenges. We endure significant rejection, feelings of hopelessness, and negativity. Unfortunately, even upon achieving success, these struggles often intensify,” MI Abaga stated.
He highlighted the widespread prevalence of drug abuse among artists and stressed the urgent need for collective efforts to provide support and assistance to creatives facing rejection and other mental health challenges in Nigeria and across Africa.
