Mike Bamiloye Responds To Critics: You Focused On Adeboye’s Apology And Overlooked Other MessagesNigerian filmmaker and evangelist Mike Bamiloye has come to the defense of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), amid the recent backlash surrounding his comments on tithing.

Pastor Adeboye has been trending on social media after publicly apologizing for a sermon he delivered years ago, in which he stated that those who do not pay tithes would not enter heaven. The apology was made during the church’s International Youth Convention (IYC) at the Redemption City of God in Mowe, Ogun State.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Bamiloye criticized those who focused solely on Adeboye’s apology while ignoring the other important messages conveyed in the viral video. He emphasized that it takes significant humility for a prominent figure like Adeboye to publicly acknowledge and apologize for a controversial statement.

Bamiloye wrote, “IT WAS THE APOLOGY THEY HEARD, THEY IGNORED THE REMAINING PART OF THE MESSAGE: Let me refresh you! MY FATHER, DADDY E.A. ADEBOYE ALSO SAID: ‘It is wrong to limit you to 10%. At a time when some of you should be at 20%, 30%, or 40%. 10% should be for beginners. You want to be at the top? If you are the one who would control finances, you will have to go far beyond 10%.’”

He added, “I NEVER EXPECT THE CHILDREN OF THIS WORLD TO UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLES OF THE KINGDOM. It is beyond their reasoning.

1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV states, ‘But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.’

But if you are a child of the Kingdom of God, expecting to go to Heaven and awaiting the coming of Jesus Christ, I DO NOT expect you to have problems with that statement. IF YOU STILL DO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH WHAT BABA SAID, then your spiritual sanctification is very doubtful.

Bamiloye further drew parallels with the biblical Prophet Samuel, who initially misjudged God’s choice for the king of Israel but was corrected by the Lord. He stated that Adeboye’s apology was also a correction from God, emphasizing the humility it takes for someone of Adeboye’s stature to admit a mistake.

“It is only someone with a focus on Heaven and eternity that would consider it important to apologize publicly,” he continued. “Whether you choose to mock him or drag him down for obeying God’s instruction, BABA HAS HEAVEN IN HIS FOCUS, and that is why he doesn’t care about earthly honor or human ego. IT TAKES HUMILITY FOR A MAN OF GLOBAL STATUS TO COME OUT AND APOLOGIZE. Only God could have spoken to such a man because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
