In a recent operation, the troops not only captured the alleged kidnapper but also seized a notorious gunrunner named Joshua Dutse Idah, who was involved in the illegal trade of arms and ammunition across Taraba State and other regions of the country.
The female suspect, identified as Janet Igohia, was reportedly married to a well-known criminal, the second-in-command to the late Hana Terwase.
Lieutenant Olubodunde revealed that the arrest of Joshua Dutse Idah was a result of credible intelligence on the activities of the arms dealer. The troops successfully tracked and apprehended him in Ibbi town, Ibbi Local Government Area, while he was en route to Kaduna State in a blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle with registration number Rivers SKN-390AA.
During the interrogation, Joshua Dutse Idah confessed to his intention of delivering AK-47 rifles to Katsina State, for which he had already received a partial payment of N300,000. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of illicit items, including 1 PK machine gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines.
In a separate incident, Janet Igohia was apprehended by the troops after collecting a ransom of N1.5 million in the Chanchangi area of Takum Local Government Area. She confessed to being the wife of Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and former second-in-command to the late Gana Terwase. She revealed her current marriage to the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba and her previous marriages to high-profile criminals, including late Terkibi Gemaga and late Gana Terwase.
Additionally, troops deployed in Mararaba Baissa community in Donga Local Government Area arrested two other suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa (40 years old) and Usman Isah (44 years old), allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling.
