One officer spoke to SaharaReporters on Thursday, highlighting that the troops have not received any payments for three months. The soldier indicated that the lack of pay is causing hunger among the personnel, which in turn is adversely affecting their morale in the ongoing fight against banditry in the region.
“Soldiers, Navy, Air Force, and Civil Defence members in Operation Hadarin Daji have not been paid their operational allowances for July, August, and September,” the officer stated. “If operational allowances are not paid on time, how can we expect to maintain morale for our duties? Morale will be nonexistent,” he added.
As of now, military authorities have not issued an official response to the soldiers’ complaints.
