Military Strikes In Jigawa: Terrorist Leader Mai Hijabi And 164 Others EliminatedThe Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the death of notorious terrorist leader Mai Hijabi during a military operation in Jigawa State earlier this week. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, made the announcement during a press briefing on the latest military activities. He emphasized that the mission aimed to significantly weaken the operational strength of terrorist groups in the region.

In addition to Mai Hijabi’s death, General Buba reported that 165 terrorists were neutralized and 238 suspects were arrested during the operation. “Our operations have significantly damaged the combat capacity of these terror groups. One of the key commanders in Jigawa, Mai Hijabi, was eliminated. Troops are making notable progress across all operational theaters,” Buba said. He also highlighted the rescue of 188 kidnapped victims during the week.

In separate operations, troops arrested 35 suspected oil thieves in the South-South region, preventing oil theft worth an estimated ₦688,125,150.00. The troops also destroyed 2 dugout pits, 58 boats, 39 storage tanks, 65 illegal refining sites, and recovered 789,200 liters of stolen crude oil and 64,950 liters of illegally refined AGO.

Additionally, 153 assorted weapons and 2,182 rounds of ammunition were recovered. The arsenal included 81 AK-47 rifles, 23 fabricated rifles, 27 Dane guns, and various other arms and ammunition, along with vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and cash.

These operations mark significant strides in the military’s efforts to curb terrorism and criminal activities across the country.
