The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, carried out a high-precision inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the Baba Saliu Road in Jattu–Uzairue, demonstrating a firm commitment to engineering standards, quality assurance and long-term durability.
Moving through the corridor with the scrutiny of a seasoned engineer, Engr. Momoh examined the formation level, checked compaction density, queried the sub-base stability, and demanded strict adherence to the approved cross-sectional design. He paid particular attention to erosion-vulnerable areas, carefully reviewing the drainage layout and flow channels.
The project, executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), features reinforced concrete gutters designed for efficient stormwater management, proper gradient alignment to prevent backflow, and side drains structured to channel runoff away from residential clusters. The minister took time to assess the concrete mix ratio, curing process, and the thickness of the binder course to ensure the pavement structure meets required specifications.
Residents watched as the minister walked through the culvert points, verified water discharge paths, and emphasized that any deviation from the engineering drawings would not be tolerated. He reiterated that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, road projects must move away from cosmetic construction and reflect true civil-engineering integrity.
Engr. Momoh’s inspection sent a clear message: no shortcuts, no compromises — only quality that will stand the test of time.
With oversight now firmly reinforced at the highest level, the Baba Saliu Road is set to emerge as a durable, economically vital access route for Edo State.
