Reports from SaharaReporters indicate that officers from the Nigeria Prisons Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have raised concerns over unpaid promotion arrears and unauthorized deductions from their salaries by the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
Frustrated by the delays, the affected personnel have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene, questioning why their allowances remain unpaid despite the release of funds.
Notably, officers from the Federal Fire Service and other agencies under the Ministry of Interior have already received their promotions and allowances, intensifying the frustration of those left out.
In response, Ahmed Ja’afaru, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board, acknowledged the complaints and assured officers that a thorough investigation is underway.
“The attention of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has been drawn to reports of salary deductions and delays in promotion arrears affecting officers under its jurisdiction,” Ja’afaru stated in a press release on Sunday.
“Following the directive of the Minister/Chairman of the Board, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, a comprehensive investigation has been initiated. We urge all officers to remain calm and patient as we work towards a swift and positive resolution.”
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all outstanding payments are made promptly, emphasizing its dedication to the welfare of the nation’s paramilitary officers.
