Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, cautioned the nation’s youth against resorting to criminal activities amidst the prevailing economic challenges. Emphasizing that the economic downturn is a global issue affecting various nations, she stressed that it should not serve as an excuse for unlawful behavior.

Delivering her message at a Retreat and Leadership Training Course for principal officers of the Peace Corps of Nigeria in Abuja, Dr. Ibrahim, represented by Mr. Isaac Adeyinka Adeagbo, Chief Youth Development Officer of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, urged young people to remain focused despite the economic hardships. She encouraged them to view these challenges as opportunities to prepare themselves for social and economic responsibility.

Expressing gratitude to the Peace Corps of Nigeria for organizing the retreat, Dr. Ibrahim affirmed her ministry’s commitment to collaborating with youth development organizations across the country to foster national unity and development. She called upon all Nigerians to advocate for peace, highlighting its indispensable role in driving meaningful progress and security within the nation.

Dr. Ibrahim also echoed the importance of collective efforts in realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “new hope agenda” to steer Nigeria toward a brighter future. Additionally, Dr. Dickso, the National Commandant of the Corps, reiterated the significance of youth empowerment and responsible citizenship in building a prosperous and harmonious society.
