During a visit to the project, the minister expressed concerns about the slow progress of the work and sought clarification from Oilserve Limited, the contractor responsible for the project’s first segment, regarding the expected completion date.
Minister Ekpo emphasized the critical importance of the AKK project to Nigeria’s economic prosperity, as it is designed to supply gas to households, vehicles, electricity, and industrial users in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and neighboring states.
He stated, “The prosperity of Nigeria depends on this project because energy is synonymous with prosperity. When this project is completed, we will have energy security in our country, which will attract investors, create jobs, and drive economic growth.”
The project will provide Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for cars and make Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) more accessible to households. Industries and power stations will also benefit from the project.
In response, the Chairman of Oilserve Limited, Emeka Okuosa, confirmed that the project would be completed and ready for inauguration between July and August 2024.
