Ministry of Regional Development Empowers Port Harcourt Youths Wth Poultry Farming Training And Startup Grants

In a bold push to deepen grassroots empowerment and accelerate regional prosperity, the Ministry of Regional Development, under the focused leadership of Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, has completed a transformative five-day training program on poultry farming in Port Harcourt, Rivers State — with startup grants awarded to all participants.

The empowerment initiative, held from June 2nd to 6th, 2025, at Voyage Bolton Hotel, 26 Stadium Road, brought together aspiring agripreneurs, unemployed youths, and small-scale farmers from across the region to gain practical, hands-on skills in poultry production and agribusiness development.

Speaking on behalf of the Honourable Minister was Mr. James Ikhanoba, Special Assistant to the President in the Office of the Ministry of Regional Development, who delivered an inspiring keynote address to the beneficiaries.

> “This training is more than just skill acquisition — it is a gateway to self-reliance and economic stability. The startup grant you are receiving today is a seed; if nurtured wisely, it will grow into a thriving agribusiness that feeds homes, creates jobs, and builds communities,” Mr. Ikhanoba said.

Participants were trained in key aspects of poultry farming — including brooding techniques, feed formulation, disease management, and marketing strategies — all tailored to help them hit the ground running. At the conclusion of the program, each participant received a startup grant to launch their poultry ventures immediately.

This Port Harcourt training is yet another milestone under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to unlocking regional potential through targeted empowerment.

Backed by Doerising Nigeria, the initiative adds to the Ministry’s growing footprint in human capital development, following similar programs recently held in Uyo, Edo North, and Lagos.
