Minna Residents Express Concerns As Alleged ‘Yahoo Boys’ Activities Raise Worries

The unease has been further fueled by the recent rental of an apartment by some of these alleged Yahoo boys, which is in close proximity to a building where security personnel previously apprehended a member of the Boko Haram sect. Many of these suspected individuals are unfamiliar faces in the community.

According to residents who spoke with DAILY POST, the suspected Yahoo boys stand out with peculiar appearances, sporting extravagant haircuts and earrings. They seem to operate discreetly, entering and leaving the rented house during morning and evening hours.

Concerns are mounting among the residents, with fears that the individuals might be recruiting new members to engage in criminal activities without hindrance. The proximity of the rented house to the location where a Boko Haram member was previously arrested intensifies the apprehension among the locals.

Isah Mustapha, a resident, emphasized the importance of continuous surveillance to eradicate criminal elements from the area. He called on the Niger State Government, the state police command, and other security agencies to promptly intervene and prevent any potential breakdown of law and order.

Aisha Abubakar, another resident, urged landlords to exercise caution by conducting thorough checks and asking necessary questions before renting out their properties. This, she believes, will help prevent accommodating individuals with questionable characters and contribute to maintaining the security of the community.
