In a statement released on Tuesday, family heads Omolayo Aloba and Joseph Aloba instructed Mohbad’s partner, Wunmi Adebanjo, to refrain from using the Aloba surname pending the outcome of a court-ordered DNA test.

The family emphasized its commitment to uncovering the truth behind the 27-year-old musician’s death and ensuring that justice is served.

“The Aloba family remains steadfast in its call for a comprehensive and impartial inquiry into the circumstances of Mohbad’s passing. We are dedicated to discovering the truth and holding all responsible parties accountable,” the statement read.

To handle the DNA case and the late singer’s estate, the family has appointed Oladayo Ogungbe, Esq., of Ogungbe & Ogungbe Attorneys, as its official legal representative. Additionally, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN, of Wahab Shittu, SAN & Co., will continue to liaise with investigative authorities regarding the ongoing inquiry.

Regarding Mohbad’s estate, three administrators have been named to manage his assets, royalties, and intellectual property: Ajewole Aloba, Rasaq Famuyiwa, and Alonge Aloba. The family also indicated that Wunmi Adebanjo may join the administrators if a court-ordered DNA test confirms that Liam is Mohbad’s biological child.

The statement further instructed Adebanjo to stop using the Aloba surname publicly or privately until paternity is legally established and the family grants permission. It also clarified that no statutory or customary marriage took place between Mohbad and Adebanjo, as the required Yoruba traditional rites, including payment of bride price, were never fulfilled.

Should the DNA test confirm Liam as Mohbad’s son, both mother and child will be recognized within the estate administration. The family urged the public to remain patient and respect the judicial process, noting that the DNA verification aims to ensure legal clarity and fairness, not to vilify anyone.

Finally, the family announced that a new burial and memorial date for Mohbad will be revealed once all legal and family matters are resolved. “Justice for Mohbad remains our unwavering goal, and we will continue to pursue it through lawful and peaceful means,” the statement concluded.
