The application, signed by Emmanuel Oroko, highlights that the testimonies of these additional witnesses could provide crucial and factual information, offering a better understanding of the events leading to the singer’s death. The law firm asserts that certain incidents on the Third Mainland Bridge on September 10, 2023, and events at the deceased’s residence on September 12, 2023, were not adequately addressed by the existing witnesses.

Monisola Odumosu points out that uncovering such information could significantly contribute to unraveling the true cause of Mohbad’s death. The application suggests that some potential witnesses, including the driver of the deceased, his wife, his brother, and others, have been subpoenaed. The law firm questions the accuracy of claims that the CCTV at Mohbad’s residence was non-functional during the relevant time.

The statement further discloses that the proposed witnesses to testify include individuals who were with Mohbad at the time of the incident, such as Ayobami Fisayo, Boluwatife Adeyemo, and Ibrahim Owodunni. The law firm argues that their eyewitness accounts could provide essential clarity to the ongoing inquest, aiding in understanding the events leading to the singer’s death.

The application aims not only to enhance the ongoing inquest but also to facilitate appropriate recommendations to the relevant authorities regarding culpability in the case. It emphasizes the importance of justice in understanding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. The request for additional witnesses comes after the suspension of the ongoing inquest by the coroner, pending the results from the pathologist.

Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparking controversies on social media. The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation team to probe the death, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and other individuals. Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, with the police awaiting the results for further actions. The father of the deceased, Joseph Aloba, had insisted in November 2023 that nobody should proceed with the burial without his authorization.
