Most Afrobeats Songs Are Rubbish!’ – Pastor Paul Enenche Sparks Debate With Blunt Verdict

The General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche, has criticised many Nigerian Afrobeats artistes, claiming that a large number of their songs lack meaningful content and promote negative values among young people.

Speaking during his Sunday sermon, the cleric argued that much of today’s Afrobeats music fails to deliver positive messages, alleging that some performers glorify harmful behaviour and influence their audience in the wrong direction.

Enenche urged gospel musicians to continue producing energetic songs that not only appeal to young listeners but also contain inspiring lyrics capable of shaping character and promoting godly values.

He said, “Most of those Afrobeats are just saying rubbish. Smoking Indian hemp while they are singing and influencing the youths in negative ways. By the time you have this positive replacement for such garbage, then your life cannot follow such a direction.

“And I trust that in time to come, more of this [energetic Gospel] music will be very word-loaded to disciple you, show you steps to take, how to stay away from negative friends, how to make the right decisions and so on.”

Meanwhile, the pastor also offered prayers for Nigeria, declaring that the days of bandits, terrorists and other violent criminals were numbered.

During the prayer session, Enenche pronounced judgment against kidnappers, terrorists, their sponsors and collaborators, declaring that their reign of violence would soon come to an end.

He warned that those responsible for shedding the blood of innocent Nigerians would ultimately face the consequences of their actions, insisting that justice would prevail.
