A viral video shows the Comrade Senator taking on the challenge of confronting the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on the funds allocated in the budget for road construction across the country. Oshiomhole’s straightforwardness and directness on this issue resonated strongly, prompting many Nigerians to condemn the continued waste by certain ministries over the years.
He voiced his frustration regarding a road that had been under construction for 18 years without being completed. He pointedly questioned the Minister’s actions, referring to the Minister’s previous public outcry about spending over six hours navigating the Auchi-Benin road.
Oshiomhole highlighted the contradiction between this experience and the mere 200 million budget allocated to fix such a critical road, emphasizing that this amount falls far short of what’s needed to address its substantial problems.
Interestingly, the comrade raised a compelling point questioning the Ministry of Works’ focus on maintaining roads under FERMA’s jurisdiction rather than prioritizing their core responsibility, which is the construction and repair of roads.
If you do not follow Oshiomhole’s presentations at the NASS, you are missing out on a lot. Oshiomhole is more of a comrade in the senate than he was as NLC president and Edo State governor, and you should be proud of a leader who is genuinely looking out for the interests of the masses without fear or favour.
For those who refuse to acknowledge any good from the APC, Oshiomhole’s case defies your criticism. Today, he has demonstrated his commitment to the people, making any preconceived notions about him irrelevant. Oshiomhole stands as the people’s champion, earnestly working alongside President Bola Tinubu to realize a renewed hope agenda. He deserves commendation for his efforts.
