The charred remains of an unidentified man were discovered hanging from a mango tree in Kudu village, located in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to a security source who spoke to Daily Trust, the body was found near a shea butter-producing company along the Enagi-Kudu road on the morning of Monday, March 25, 2024.

The source stated that neither the identity of the victim nor the perpetrators had been determined at the time of the report.

The source also disclosed that a cult group, yet to be identified, had been active in the area for the past four weeks, carrying out killings every Sunday night.

“We have been witnessing strange killings in the area for the past four weeks. So far, two people have died, and three others who were brutally tortured sustained severe injuries. They are currently receiving treatment in Mokwa. These killings occur every Sunday night, and we are unaware of the individuals responsible. However, we have initiated efforts to apprehend those behind these atrocities,” the police source revealed.

“This morning, we found a deceased individual hanging from a mango tree with his body burned. He was tied to the tree and set on fire,” the source added.
