N99 Million Votes Approved For Restoration Of Bayero’s Palace In Kano

Kano State’s Executive Council has authorized N99,928,541.63 for the reconstruction and improvement of the damaged wall fence and vicinity surrounding the Nasarawa Emir’s palace, presently occupied by the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

Governor Abba Yusuf made this announcement via his official Facebook page following the council’s 15th meeting held on Saturday.

Despite a court’s decision nullifying his dethronement, the state government ordered Bayero’s eviction from the mini palace in Nasarawa, where he relocated after Muhammad Sanusi’s reinstatement as the 16th Emir of Kano.

However, the Federal High Court overturned Sanusi’s reinstatement and upheld Bayero’s status as the Emir of Kano. The state government intends to appeal this judgment and had initially planned to demolish the Nasarawa palace where Bayero currently resides, although security measures have prevented this demolition.

Additionally, Governor Yusuf announced that the council approved N99,928,541.63 for the reconstruction and improvement of the Nasarawa palace. They also approved funding for other projects, including upgrading a ward at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for a Sickle-Cell Care Unit, constructing a Post-Midwifery Institute in Gezawa Local Government Area, and completing the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Madobi Local Government Area. The council also allocated funds for excess workload allowances for lecturers in two state-owned universities.
