In a statement released on Monday, NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the coordinated operations targeted Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Mallam Fatori and Shuwaram, Borno State, as well as bandits’ enclaves in Garin Dandi and Chigogo, Kwara State, and Zango Hill in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to Ejodame, the missions—executed on November 9, 2025—were based on credible intelligence reports detailing the movements and activities of the criminal elements. He described the strikes as a major phase in ongoing joint operations under Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fansan Yamma, designed to weaken terrorist and criminal networks in Nigeria’s northern regions.
The NAF spokesman explained that the air component, guided by real-time Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) feeds, launched precision strikes southeast of Shuwaram before shifting focus to Mallam Fatori, where ISWAP fighters were spotted mobilizing with motorcycles and boats along the Lake Chad Basin.
The airstrikes reportedly destroyed insurgent hideouts, logistics depots, and weapons storage facilities, killing several fighters and crippling their operational capabilities.
“Post-strike assessments confirmed multiple neutralizations and a significant degradation of ISWAP’s operational network in the area,” Ejodame stated.
Similarly, NAF aircraft conducted targeted air interdiction missions over Garin Dandi and Chigogo in Kwara State, striking bandits’ camps with devastating precision. The attacks triggered panic among the criminals and inflicted heavy casualties, he said.
In another coordinated mission, air assets under Operation Fansan Yamma hit Zango Hill in Kankara, Katsina State—believed to be the hideout of a notorious terrorist kingpin and his fighters. Guided by actionable intelligence and ISR surveillance, the aircraft carried out multiple attack runs, destroying key logistics hubs and neutralizing several combatants.
Additionally, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma (Sector 1) conducted an armed reconnaissance mission across parts of Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna States—covering Kakihum, Dankolo, Kotonkoro, and Kuyello—areas known as transit routes and hideouts for armed groups operating along the Birnin Gwari–Funtua axis.
“During the mission, coordination with Forward Operating Bases at Dankolo and Kotonkoro revealed suspicious movement near Wam Hill, where terrorists on motorcycles were attempting to escape. The aircrew swiftly engaged and neutralized the targets, with no further hostile activity observed,” Ejodame added.
