Trump Lied, Nigerians Revealed Their Hatred!” – Gumi Fires Back Over Genocide Claim
Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has stated that United States President Donald Trump’s recent claim of a “Christian massacre” in Nigeria has exposed what he called unpatriotic and hateful citizens within the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), alleging widespread persecution of Christians and even hinting at possible U.S. military intervention to confront terrorist groups accused of orchestrating the violence.
The claim has since ignited sharp divisions among Nigerians — with some backing Trump’s assertions and others insisting that the nation’s security challenges cut across religious lines.
Gumi, who had earlier dismissed Trump’s remarks and urged him to retract them, said the statement has now unmasked those who secretly harbor hostility toward the country.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the cleric wrote:
“Trump’s lies about a so-called ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria have exposed unpatriotic, hateful citizens who wish no good for this nation. We can’t be deceived anymore.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has also rejected Trump’s CPC designation, describing it as a deliberate attempt to stoke religious tension and destabilize Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja on Sunday, the Council’s National Secretary, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said the allegations of “Christian genocide” were false, politically motivated, and driven by foreign propaganda.
According to Oloyede, both Muslims and Christians have suffered equally from Nigeria’s security crises, which stem from terrorism, criminality, social inequality, and climate-related conflicts.
“There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” Oloyede said. “Both Muslims and Christians are victims of the same violent groups. These attackers do not represent Islam — they kill Muslims, destroy mosques, and target everyone.”
