The association also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest and prosecute Emonefe and his associates for conspiracy and attempting to defraud the Akwa Ibom State government of N13 billion.

NANS Zone B Secretary, Comrade Nathaniel Archibong, made this appeal during a press conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State’s capital, on Monday. The conference, titled “Timely Response to the Unruly Threat by One Imposter, Lucky Emonefe, to Lock Down the Exalted Office of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State,” was attended by other association leaders from the zone.

Archibong accused Emonefe of drafting a letter to Governor Umo Eno, threatening to mobilize students to shut down the Government House and surrounding areas over compensation for land acquired for the Coconut Refinery in Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area. He alleged that Emonefe aimed to defraud the governor by coercing him into paying N13 billion to unknown individuals through persistent threats.

Archibong described Emonefe as an imposter lacking the authority to speak on student welfare and called for his immediate arrest and prosecution. He stated, “As a zone, we demand the following: the immediate arrest and prosecution of Lucky Emonefe by the police and the Department of State Services for impersonating the NANS President to mislead the student community.

“We also urge the EFCC chairman to arrest and prosecute Emonefe and his associates (currently at large) for conspiracy and attempting to defraud the Akwa Ibom State government of N13 billion.

“Furthermore, Emonefe should be prosecuted for attempting to obstruct justice by circulating false judicial declarations without providing substantial evidence, such as a certified true copy of any judgment on the matter.

“Emonefe’s intention to disrupt government activities and his conspiracy to intimidate the governor’s office is a direct threat to public peace and harmony in Akwa Ibom State, constituting a treasonable offense. The full weight of the law must be applied to Lucky Emonefe and his associates (now at large) according to the laws of Akwa Ibom State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Efforts by South-South PUNCH to contact Lucky Emonefe were unsuccessful as his phone lines were switched off at the time of reporting
