Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has urged mining companies in the state to actively support the development of their host communities through meaningful projects. He emphasized that these initiatives, beyond enhancing company operations, contribute significantly to the overall progress of the state.
Speaking at the launch of road construction and borehole drilling in Uke, Karu Local Government Area, Governor Sule praised Hasetins Commodities Limited (HCL) for spearheading these efforts. He encouraged other firms to emulate Hasetins by executing similar projects aligned with Nasarawa’s development agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Represented by Commissioner Kwanta Yakubu, Governor Sule reaffirmed the state’s commitment to collaborating with local and international investors for continued development. He commended Hasetins for not only building infrastructure but also employing local residents, thus fostering industrialization and community empowerment.
Meanwhile, Hasetins’ Director of Corporate Affairs, Peter Butt, highlighted these projects as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. He underscored their commitment to training, employing, and engaging local communities, while also addressing critical issues like water access through borehole installations.
Sarkin Uke, Ahmed Abdullahi, expressed the community’s solidarity and pledged to safeguard the interests of companies operating in their area. He emphasized the community’s harmonious coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups, ensuring collective efforts to protect company investments and facilities.
