The unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices overturned the ruling of the Nasarawa State governorship election petition tribunal, which had initially nullified Sule’s victory as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Accompanying the Governor during his visit to Ganduje were notable figures such as the former National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, and Sen. Tanko Almakura, along with other party leaders.
In its Thursday judgment, the appellate court, led by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, declared that the tribunal had erred in law by concluding that Governor Sule did not secure the majority of votes in the election. The court further emphasized that the governor was denied a fair hearing.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had initially declared Sule the winner of the election with 347,209 votes.
while David Ombugadu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured the second position with 283,016 votes. However, Ombugadu contested the election outcome, alleging irregularities.
