National Association Of Resident Doctors Condemns ‘No Work, No Pay’ Policy By Federal Government
The Federal Government’s imposition of a ‘no work, no pay’ policy on members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has been met with strong opposition.
The government directed Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors in Federal Tertiary Hospitals to enforce the policy on striking doctors and maintain attendance registers for resident doctors willing to work….CONTINUE READING
In response, NARD President, Dr. Emeka Orji, expressed dismay, calling the policy unfortunate and unfounded.
He stressed that the Ministry of Health had been evading responsibility for too long, and this latest directive has further exacerbated tensions.
The NARD had previously initiated an indefinite strike on July 26, after the government failed to address their demands, which include issues related to healthcare worker replacement, medical certification, salary arrears, hazard allowance, and the Medical Residency Training Act’s implementation.
