National Sh*ck: Tinubu Reacts As Abuja-Kaduna Train Goes Off Track

In a message shared via his personal account, the President conveyed solidarity with the victims, offering prayers for the injured, their families, and all passengers affected by the unfortunate incident.
Tinubu noted that he is awaiting a detailed briefing on the matter and has directed that full support be given to those impacted. He further assured that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is already handling the situation and will implement measures to prevent a recurrence.
“Even while in Brazil, I have received reports of today’s Abuja–Kaduna train derailment. I am deeply saddened by this incident. My heartfelt prayers are with the injured, their families, and all passengers who went through this distressing experience.
“I am closely monitoring updates and awaiting a full briefing to ensure swift action and support for all affected. The NRC is addressing the situation, and steps will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future,” Tinubu wrote.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed that the derailment happened at about 11:09 a.m. on the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, specifically at KM 49 between Kubwa Station and Asham Station, while the train was en route to Kaduna.
According to a statement signed by NRC Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, emergency response teams, medical personnel, and nearby hospitals were quickly mobilised. Security operatives were also deployed to safeguard passengers and maintain order at the scene.
