Naval Officer Who Perished Saving 59 Victims Honored By Group

Lt. Commander Gwaza drowned while rescuing people from the MV AMBIKA 4, a dredging vessel that was sinking in the Okpobo field of Rivers State. He successfully saved 59 individuals but tragically lost his life in the process.

In a statement released on Tuesday, PSNASA convener, Ambassador Mary Fatile, praised Gwaza’s legacy of bravery and selflessness.

Fatile noted, “Gwaza’s sacrifice highlights the unwavering dedication of naval personnel and other security agents who risk their lives daily to protect us. Sadly, some of these brave individuals make the ultimate sacrifice in their line of duty.”

The group urged Nigerians to unite in support and appreciation of such heroes, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by those who put others before themselves.

“We must show our security agents that we value their service and sacrifices. It is our duty to acknowledge and appreciate the bravery and selflessness of these individuals,” the statement said.

PSNASA also extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Lt. Commander Gwaza. “You are not alone in your grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May the memories of his courage and dedication bring you comfort, and may his soul rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
