In addition to endorsement from all district heads in Kano’s 44 local government areas, council chairmen, commissioners, and notable Kano and Nigerian citizens, the NBA has solidified Sanusi’s status as the 16th Emir of Kano by extending an invitation to him for their ongoing annual conference in Kano.

The conference, hosted at Amani Event Centre in Kano, was attended by distinguished personalities, including the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Benedict Bakwaph Kanyip, NBA President Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Aboki, and other legal luminaries.

This event marks the inaugural NBA conference for the entire northern region.

In recognition of the event’s significance, the NBA formally invited Emir Sanusi to grace the occasion with his presence, bestow his royal blessings, and deliver an address to the participants.

Addressing the NBA conference through his representative, Mahe Bashir Wali (the Walin Kano), Emir Sanusi warmly welcomed the attendees and underscored Kano’s extensive and illustrious history as a cultural and commercial hub of the northern region.

The monarch emphasized the aptness of the conference theme, ‘Administration of Justice in Nigeria: Challenges and Reforms,’ asserting that peace, crucial for progress and development, can only be attained through justice in the land.

State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf saw the conference as an opportune moment to challenge NBA members on the conflicting court orders regarding the Kano emirate dispute, stressing that the matter is strictly a state affair.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Bappa Bichi, the governor urged legal practitioners present to uphold the truth about unfavorable cases to their clients, even if it is unpalatable, rather than appeasing them by pursuing actions beyond the bounds of the law.

To address the challenges confronting the administration of justice in Nigeria, the Governor underscored the significance of upholding the rule of law and implementing comprehensive judicial reforms.

Barrister O.M. Femi, speaking on the emirate dispute, acknowledged the NBA’s awareness of the situation and stressed the importance of a judicial decision to prevent further grievances among the involved parties and set a precedent for future cases.

He emphasized that Muhammadu Sanusi II is the rightful Emir of Kano, as evident from his representation at the ongoing NBA annual conference, which signifies the acknowledgment accorded to him by legal practitioners.
