Originally scheduled for October 27, the announcement of the new tariff plan was postponed. According to Dr. Maida, the updated tariff structure is designed to simplify telecom offerings, reduce confusion around data and airtime usage, and bring relief to consumers.

As part of the new plan, the NCC has capped the number of tariff plans that operators can offer to a maximum of seven. To address concerns over rapid data depletion, the Commission clarified that telecom operators are not responsible for high data consumption. Instead, the type of mobile device used plays a significant role in how quickly data is consumed.
