It was reported that Osuman, in a statement issued in Kaduna State, declared that the North would support a northern candidate for the presidency in 2027. In response, the ACF swiftly suspended him, alleging that his statement was made without consulting other leaders or members of the forum.

Reacting to the suspension, Shehu Sani expressed his disagreement in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday. He argued that Osuman should not have been suspended for simply expressing his opinion. Sani noted, “The ACF Chairman should not have been suspended for airing his opinion. The content of his speech is not completely out of order. The only issue may be that his opinion could be interpreted as representing the views of the organization he leads.
