According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, individuals already apprehended in connection to the syndicate include Falowo Samuel Kayode, a clearing and notify party for the two containers; Anjorin Idowu, a dock worker; and Uzairu Ahmed Iguda, the head of the Five Star terminal at the port. Another dock worker, Mohammed Muktar Sule, also linked to the syndicate, is currently evading capture.

The NDLEA, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a 100 percent joint examination of the containers marked MSCU 4581770 and TRHU 7968071, resulting in the discovery of 56.39kg of cocaine, 795kg of Colorado (a potent strain of synthetic cannabis), and other illegal items.

Upon Chairman/CEO Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa’s directive for further investigations, a specialized team uncovered additional bags of Colorado weighing 192.7kg, a pistol, and ammunition hidden in an empty container at the Five Star terminal. This led to the arrest of Uzairu Ahmed Iguda and Anjorin Idowu, while Mohammed Muktar Sule remains at large.

The total seizure from the two containers now stands at 56.39kg of cocaine and 987.9kg of Colorado, totaling 1,044.29kg. Investigations have identified three key figures based in South Africa, namely Odeyemi Taiwo Emmanuel, Akinyemi Olayinka, and Adebayo Adewole Emmanuel, who are now wanted by the NDLEA.

In a separate operation in Edo state, NDLEA officers raided a drug joint, arresting Jessica Destiny and later apprehending the joint’s owner, Ibrahim Sani, the Commander of Arewa Association Vigilantes in the area.

Other notable operations include the recovery of 179kg of cannabis in Badagry Waterside, Lagos, and the arrest of 67-year-old Rafiu Ogunro in Ogun state with 57kg of cannabis, 2,700 pills of tramadol, and 231 bottles of Codeine syrup.

As the investigations continue, the NDLEA is intensifying efforts to dismantle the criminal network responsible for these illicit activities.
