In a significant drug seizure operation, the Nigeria Customs Service’s Oyo/Osun Area Command has transferred 546 wraps and 33 sacks of Cannabis Sativa valued at N21,128,260 to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Oyo State. This handover marks the latest in a series of notable drug interceptions by Customs officials, underscoring their ongoing efforts against drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Speaking to reporters at the command headquarters in Ibadan, Area Controller Ben Oramalugo reported that the command achieved a revenue generation of N6,335,842,600.28 for May 2024. Cumulatively, from January to May 2024, the command has generated N30,664,247,939.15, reflecting a 5.2% increase compared to the N29,154,853,722.73 generated during the same period in 2023, despite the prevailing economic challenges.

Oramalugo also highlighted other seizures such as Foreign Parboiled Rice, Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), Pieces of Used Tyres, and a Used Mercedes Truck. He affirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to upholding its mandate under the Nigeria Customs Service Act amidst the complexities of the current economic environment. He assured stakeholders that they will continue to adapt and innovate their operations to ensure effectiveness in tackling evolving challenges.
