Senator Ndume has criticized Bwala, questioning his loyalty and political value due to his recent actions. Bwala’s shift from Atiku’s camp to trying to join the APC has attracted scrutiny, especially in light of his previous critiques of Tinubu’s policies.

The tension between Ndume and Bwala intensified when Bwala accused Ndume of planning to mobilize youths to attack him in Hawul, part of Ndume’s constituency. Ndume addressed these allegations during a press briefing at his Maiduguri residence, expressing disappointment over Bwala’s claims and questioning Bwala’s connection to Hawul.

Ndume said, “My advice to President Tinubu is to be cautious with Daniel Bwala, who I consider a ‘mad dog’ that turns against even his own. Bwala once belonged to the APC but left and joined Atiku Abubakar, where he publicly criticized Tinubu. Bwala seems to only be useful for attacking others. With the 2027 elections approaching, I suggest Bwala reconnect with his roots in Borno.

“I initially refrained from engaging with him, believing his strategy was merely to attract President Tinubu’s attention for possible police protection or a job. Bwala comes across as a failed lawyer and a loud but inconsequential figure in Abuja. His claims of threats or attacks are serious and sensitive.

“We have credible individuals in Hawul who know Bwala well. Initially, I mistook his name for that of Inuwa Bwala, a respected journalist and former Caretaker Chairman of Hawul. It turns out it is Daniel Bwala, who lacks political relevance in Southern Borno.

“I responded to his post by saying that if his attacks on me on Twitter or in newspapers are meant to gain favor from Tinubu, so be it. Hawul has three former Deputy Governors, all of whom are my supporters and highly esteemed. Bwala’s attempts to incite violence among Hawul’s peace-loving youths are misplaced. He seems to be seeking sympathy from the President.”

Ndume also clarified that his interview on Arise TV did not accuse or insult President Tinubu but criticized certain policies he believes are detrimental to ordinary Nigerians.
