Near-Death Scare! Uchenna Nnanna Reveals How She Was Revived After Devastating Accident

Nollywood actress Uchenna Nnanna has recounted her traumatic experience after surviving a near-fatal road accident in 2013, revealing that she was placed on oxygen and spent weeks in the hospital as doctors battled to stabilise her condition.

The actress shared the emotional story during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she reflected on some of the most painful moments of her life, including the devastating accident and the loss of close family members.

Recalling the incident, Nnanna said the crash occurred on a Monday and left her in critical condition, requiring emergency medical attention.

According to her, doctors immediately placed her on oxygen, administered intravenous treatment and carried out other life-saving procedures to keep her alive. She remained hospitalised for about three weeks before recovering enough to return home.

Beyond the accident, the actress also opened up about the death of her elder sister, Olaedo Nnanna, who was among the victims of the Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 disaster in Port Harcourt in 2005.

Olaedo lost her life when the aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Port Harcourt International Airport on December 10, 2005. The tragedy claimed 108 of the 110 people on board and remains one of Nigeria’s deadliest aviation disasters.

Nnanna said the heartbreaking loss left her with a deep fear of flying, a phobia she struggled with for several years before gradually overcoming it.

She added that the deaths of her sister and, later, both parents were among the most difficult experiences she has endured, forcing her to come to terms with life as an orphan.

Reflecting on the difficult chapter of her life, the actress said, “The accident happened in 2013. It was the first major accident I had, and it almost claimed my life. They had to put me on oxygen because I was almost gone. They were trying everything to revive me, giving me drips and other treatments. I stayed in the hospital for three weeks.”

She also disclosed that losing her sister in the Sosoliso plane crash left her terrified of air travel for years.

Despite the pain, Nnanna said she drew strength from her mother’s unwavering faith, recalling how she often prayed to the Virgin Mary during difficult times, believing that hope would eventually prevail.
