Earlier, Richard went live on Facebook to share his distressing plans. In a wordless video, wearing a lemon-colored t-shirt, he hinted at his intentions. Accompanying the video was a post stating, “Today is my last day on earth. I am going to meet my maker.”
Concerned friends reached out to him, discovering him in severe pain. They rushed him to Madonna Hospital in Umuahia in an attempt to save his life. Unfortunately, the efforts proved futile, and the businessman succumbed to the effects of the poison.
A subsequent video from the hospital depicts Richard in the same attire as in his live video. Some friends suspect that he had already ingested the sniper before going live on Facebook, highlighting the deep distress and tragic circumstances leading to his untimely demise.
He is survived by his elderly mother, whom he regularly writes about on Facebook. Just weeks ago, he spoke about his mother urging him to find a wife and get married.
Friends have flooded Facebook with tribute posts in his honour.
