New Police Commissioner Appointed For Akwa Ibom

A statement from the Akwa Ibom Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, shared with journalists in Uyo on January 5, 2025, confirmed the appointment. Azare, who began his career as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was trained at the renowned Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, where he excelled academically.
A native of Katagum Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Azare holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Bayero University Kano, as well as two Master’s degrees from the same institution in Public Policy and Administration, and Crime Management, Prevention, and Control.
John highlighted Azare’s reputation as a dedicated, non-tribalistic officer, known for his commitment to the nation in various sensitive roles. He has served in key areas such as Administration, Investigation, Operations, and Specialised Units within the Nigeria Police Force.
Azare’s prior postings include serving as a Detective in the General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) Kano, and in the Anti-Fraud Section. His tenure at the Kano State Police Command’s State Traffic Office notably improved traffic flow, particularly during busy periods. His effective communication and rapport with the public earned him the role of Police Public Relations Officer for Kano State, where he served for approximately seven years.
According to the statement, Azare’s strong interpersonal skills and performance in various positions led to further promotions and recognition, including opportunities for international training programs.
