Morka stated that, contrary to Obi’s remarks at his New Year press conference, the economy has been improving across various sectors.
In an interview with Arise TV on Saturday, where he addressed his party’s statement calling Obi a “prophet of doom,” Morka emphasized that Obi was intentionally providing false information to the public.
He highlighted that President Bola Tinubu implemented bold policy changes due to the country’s previous issues. Morka argued that what truly mattered was the positive results stemming from those policies.
“A significant portion of Mr. Obi’s press conference was factually incorrect and deliberately misleading, attempting to convince Nigerians of a false narrative. Regardless of the sector, the country is showing considerable signs of recovery.
“Yes, the situation was tough at the start, but these difficulties did not begin with this administration. In fact, the reforms Mr. Obi referred to were designed to correct and transform Nigeria for long-term prosperity. When this administration came in, the country was facing serious challenges, and President Tinubu had to implement bold, transformative policies. Now, 18 months later, we can see the positive results.
“We shouldn’t focus on whether those decisions were right or wrong. Instead, we should focus on the undeniable, positive outcomes of these policies. When Mr. Obi claims that everything is worse now than it was before, I disagree, and I believe many Nigerians would agree with me. That’s simply not an accurate assessment,” he said.
On Peter Obi’s criticisms, Morka insisted that the former governor of Anambra State had no basis to criticize President Tinubu’s policies. He pointed out that Obi had failed to bring significant transformation to Anambra during his tenure and suggested that Obi’s current remarks were influenced by his loss in the 2023 presidential election.
