The appeal was contained in a communiqué released on Tuesday following a meeting in Abuja, convened by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The communiqué, signed by David Mark, emphasized the urgent need for opposition forces to unite in order to rescue Nigeria from what it described as the ongoing misrule of the APC.

It stated, “The meeting encourages all committed PDP members and patriotic Nigerians to rally behind the coalition. All partners must be united on fundamental issues such as national unity, democratic governance, security, economic stability, and the determination to eliminate entrenched corruption in public institutions.

“The coalition is expected to devise strategies for winning future elections while considering both local and national dynamics.”

The communiqué further noted that the gathering was composed of concerned PDP stakeholders committed to resolving the internal crisis currently troubling the party.

Participants at the meeting criticized the APC-led federal government for allegedly using state institutions to suppress opposition voices. The communiqué also condemned the PDP’s national leadership for deviating from the party’s constitution and internal rules, a failure that has worsened the party’s internal challenges.
