He explained that the former Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed and its responsibilities expanded to include oversight of the NDDC and other regional development commissions throughout the country.
“For the people of the Niger Delta, I assure you that nothing has changed. The NDDC is still very much in place, now under the Ministry of Regional Development, along with other regional agencies. It’s simply a change in name,” he stated.
Momoh urged the Niger Delta community to remain assured that all structures and activities related to the NDDC remain unchanged. He emphasized that the transformation represents a mere renaming and expansion of the ministry’s functions, which he believes is a positive development.
Reports indicate that the Federal Executive Council has restructured several ministries, resulting in the dissolution of the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development. The newly formed Ministry of Regional Development will oversee all regional development commissions, including:
•Niger Delta Development Commission
•North West Development Commission
•South West Development Commission
•North East Development Commission
•South East Development Commission
Additionally, the National Sports Commission will now assume the responsibilities of the former Ministry of Sports Development, while the Ministry of Tourism has been merged with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
