NICO Reacts To Controversies On Airpeace Cabin Crews Wearing ‘Isi Agu’ Attire....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) has addressed the recent controversy surrounding Airpeace airline cabin crews wearing ‘Isi Agu’ attire as part of their official uniform. Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, the Executive Secretary of NICO, has emphasized the positive influence of cultural attire in showcasing Nigerian heritage globally.

Ajiboye made these remarks in Abuja, responding to criticisms of the airline’s choice of attire during the launch of its Lagos-to-London flight. He commended Airpeace CEO, Allen Onyema, for the successful inaugural direct Boeing 777 flight from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to Gatwick Airport, London, on March 30.

Ajiboye stressed that instead of critiquing Onyema over the cabin crew’s attire along tribal lines, he should be celebrated for this significant achievement. He reiterated NICO’s commitment to uniting Nigerians through a culture-focused lifestyle, believing that it would foster national unity and enhance Nigeria’s cultural identity globally.

Highlighting the importance of indigenous dress culture, Ajiboye emphasized its role in establishing a distinct cultural identity for Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to embrace and take pride in their indigenous dress patterns, as it promotes unity in diversity and contributes to national identity.

The recent debate over Airpeace’s choice of attire reflects differing opinions among the public. While some view it as insignificant, others criticize the airline’s selection of attire for its officials.

NICO and its partners continue to advocate for the promotion and preservation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, aiming to foster national unity and global recognition.
