The Niger Delta Integrity and Justice (NDIJ) group has firmly rejected the idea of settling for a vice-presidential position in the upcoming 2027 elections, emphasizing their aspiration to secure the presidency instead. George Miriki, the group’s Secretary, highlighted their agenda in a statement, stating, “Our focus for 2027 is the presidency. While we acknowledge Diri’s suitability as observed by Atiku’s camp, we are committed to preventing any compromise of the Niger Delta’s aspirations. Our goal is to achieve the presidency and ensure the region completes its eight-year term in office.”

Miriki further elaborated, “Rather than settling for a vice-presidential role for Diri, our priority is President Jonathan. He retains significant popularity and international appeal, which we believe will lead to success.”
