Recognizing the significance of this accomplishment, Patrice Motsepe praised the teams and viewed it as a sign of progress in African football.
“The Women’s Teams of Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa have earned our utmost admiration for their historic qualification to the Round of 16 in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023,” stated Motsepe.
He further expressed how the remarkable performances and hard-earned victories of the Super Falcons, Atlas Lionesses, and Banyana Banyana have made the entire African continent proud.
Motsepe emphasized the bright future of women’s football on the African continent, and he believes that the triumphs of these three teams will significantly contribute to the growth and development of women’s football in Africa.
He concluded his statement by wishing the Nigerian, Moroccan, and South African women’s football teams the best of luck in their upcoming matches.
In the round of 16, South Africa will face the Netherlands on Sunday, the Super Falcons will take on England on Monday, and Morocco will challenge France on Tuesday.
