His statement comes amid Nigeria’s involvement in quelling the attempted coup in the Benin Republic on Sunday.
Earlier, Nigerian Air Force jets were deployed to strike locations believed to be occupied by soldiers involved in the failed takeover attempt — a move later confirmed in an official statement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting via his handle on , Fani-Kayode recounted several historical missions in which Nigeria played a stabilizing role on the continent. According to him, Nigeria:

Fani-Kayode emphasized Nigeria’s long-standing leadership role in defending democratic values and regional peace.
“There is no country in Africa that has fought harder and done more for democracy and the African people than Nigeria,” he declared, applauding the sacrifices of the nation’s military and past leaders.
