Despite the Federal Government’s privatization of the sector more than eleven years ago, the grid’s unreliability persists, causing inconvenience to consumers on numerous occasions.

Distribution companies are actively notifying customers about the ongoing situation, while concerns from generation companies mount regarding the potential impact on the safety and longevity of their equipment.

Kaduna Electric has confirmed that the loss of bulk power supply has left states such as Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi in complete darkness.

As per the system operator’s platform, all 20 power plants, excluding Ibom Power with 31 megawatts, are currently offline. Notably, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not yet issued a statement regarding the cause of the grid collapse.
